    How do you calculate KO%?

By taking into account all the fights, or just the victories?

      All fights..

if its wins only; then a guy w/ 2(2)-25-2 (W-L-D) will have a 100% KO win.

You can make an arguement for both, but total fights makes most sense.

            Knock out is knock out.

Win, lose or draw, if you don't get it then that's no a KO and will go to the %

i asked this on one of the posts here regarding pac and floyd on who has the best offense...

in my opinion, the knockout percentage is the ratio of the wins via knockout to the total wins a fighter has...

a page in wikipedia regarding Vitali's KO percentage...

when you factor in all of the fights (win, lose, no contest, draw), then it should be winning percentage. ratio of all wins against total fights.

i could be wrong... though i believe i am right

Calculating the percentage of a ratio of KO's to wins is more of an indicator or the manner in which the person wins, not their overall capacity to win. The problem with this method is that fighters with 10 wins (10 KO), and 20 losses end up with a 100% KO ratio which is far too flattering.

In contrast, calculating it in comparison to all their fights is a fairer representation of how they do overall - it shows their ability to finish fights early in comparison to all their fights, no matter the outcome.

Thing is though, KO% doesn't mean a whole lot and is just a statistical construct for interest, so you could argue it either way.

                    Simple math to be honest...

If a guy is say 30-5 with 24 KOs, to get the percentage you'd have to add all the fights win or lose (in this case 35 fights) and divide 24 (which represents the total KOs) by 35 and you'll get a % that you'll need to round off (i.e 0.6857455934). In this case, a dude who's 30-5 with 24 KOs has a 69% KO ratio.
