According to Michael Katsidis' trainer Brendon Smith, a fight with WBA junior welterweight champion Amir Khan is not likely to happen on July 31 in England. Smith said Katsidis, the WBO's interim-lightweight champion, was turned down as an opponent for Khan's debut in America. Smith thinks the fight is too risky for Khan at this point. This is not a surprise. The Katsidis/Khan fight goes right against the padded pattern of Khan's career to date. If Roach has turned down Katsidis already this fight is not going to happen. I was hoping that Khan might step up the opposition now that he has his US debut behind him but that is wishful thinking.

Smith has suggested Khan is afraid and Roach is afraid, but Murray isn't. Might just be the worm on the hook to get the fish to bite. Let's hope so. I don't think Katsidis has any interest in Murray at all. Marquez, Diaz and Khan is the pecking order.Comment
