Pernell Whitiker would tell you Floyd is a great defensive fighter~.

If it was so easy to fight like Floyd why does anyone ever get beat up~ Floyd does have good reflexes and athletic ability but he also sheppards such talents (Not drinking, smoking, doing drugs etc.). You could argue that Floyd would have trouble once he slows down a lot but I could also make a case that Floyd could do like Hopkins.

Or is what Hopkins is doing also easy and everyone could do that also.

      You just said this:

"you hit the nail right in the head with that post. The majority of it is reflexes & athleticism then they run & spoil fights & the *****s equate that with great boxing technique & defense.

dirrell is exactly the same way."

Now you are saying its "flashy". lol

Whats the PROPER way to avoid punches? And what fights have Floyd ran in.

floyd runs & clinches his opponents like dirrell & ward. not as much as dirrell & ward but he does it.

go watch some willie pep, nicolino locche, & salvador sanchez. watch them avoid punches.

so who has the better defense floyd or pernell? You can make a case for floyd to compare him to hopkins when he's actually 40 & still taking on tough challenging fights.

He doesnt even take risky challenging fights when he was prime, how much more when he's 40?

        When was this?

He didn't clinch against DLH, Mosley, Hatton, or Marquez...Hatton tried to make it a rough fight and lost

Floyd is a great defensive fighter but his style has never been pleasing on the eye. I can watch pernel or pep for hours because stylisticly they are beautiful to watch. Floyd is just boring man. Mosley fight was hella boring.

Hatton kept coming inside...yet he was ineffective...Hatton even said Floyd was more clever on the inside than he expected...

Not Floyd's fault the Mosley fight was "boring" Someone shudda told Shane to fight back...if he could...

Idk how you feel that way...my popz finds Floyd and Pernell boring...neither of them can punch...

They are different defensive fighters who is better is merely a matter of whom they are facing and what that guys does well.

Hopkins could have done a lot more than he did during his prime if you want to hold Foyd to that kind of standard~. I have no issue with who Floyd has fought though so I don't have any issue with Hopkins either be consistent though.

The main point of that comparison is that Floyd has a style and overall lifestyle that he could last for a long time at a high level but that could change who knows~.

well lets wait until his reflexes, youth, & athleticism are gone & see how he deals with it in the ring before we give him credit.

i guess taking on 9 loss baldomir, battle-worn 6 loss gatti, fighting a 36 year old career feather weight at welterweight, & taking on a 39 year old 1 year 5 month inactive shane mosley can be considered a murderers row line up.

wait, i forgot to add great welterweight (7-5-1) Zab Judah to the list.
