It doesn't have to be so dull if all the top 50 fought each other....heck the top 20 old vs new, states vs Europe , or whatever.guys like boytsov, dimitrenko, povetkin fighting each other & fighting Rahman ,Briggs, grant, tua.gomez vs kingpin or arreola, peter vs boytsov,etc.....you get my drift....solis vs arreola, povetkin vs Thompson, toney vs juan carlos gomez...so many good fights could be made but promoters are reluctant to risk their rankings....Calvin Brock got a shot at wlad only because he beat mccline who was in line for another crack at wlad when he risked his ranking vs Brock.mcline still got 3 shots at a title.guys just don't take risks anymore.big fights don't have to be Eliminators & title fights but it would be nice if the contenders started fighting each other like throughout the 90's.there was good fights all the time in the division.I've been following the sport since 1991 when I was 16.I've got thousands of heavyweight fights & without a doubt many of todays top 10 heavyweights wouldn't have got too far in the 90's.the reason I say that is guys like kingpin wouldve had to go through Rahman, tua, maskaev,Byrd, ruiz, mccline,Briggs, etc to get a crack at Holyfield,Tyson or lewis...nowadays beat monte Barrett(washed up version), or paolo vidoz & you got a title shot...kingpin & sosnowski wouldn't even be in top 30 in the 90's but today they get title shots just because their "0" was intact....mcneely was 28-0 vs Tyson...did that make him a good opponent? No but today mcneely would be in line for a shot at a klitschko just because he had an "0".it's a shame the direction the division has gone...
the best way to fix the heavyweight division
