Sanders would still be a difficult match-up for him, and also remember that the Sanders Wladimir fought wasn't exactly in his prime. He was 37 years old and a part-time fighter by then.

Prime for prime there'll always be a danger for Wladimir in the early rounds against Sanders. Keep in mind that Sanders similarly stunned Vitali in round one but Vitali had the chin to take Sanders's sneaky left hand. Obviously Wladimir is the better and more proven fighter overall, but it's not like he has fought anyone comparable to Sanders in the past 4 years.

The fact that his team never entertained a rematch with Sanders until Sanders was past 40 is really the only blight on an otherwise stellar career.

Sanders was plenty dangerous early, who knows if Wlad could've taken him to deeper waters and drowned him.
We'll never know.

Vitali is the most active champion in the sport today.
Fighting 3-4 a year and also the most active heavyweight when it comes to output.
