Comments Thread For: Team Pacquiao: Floyd Mayweather Demands More Money

See bruh this is where I somewhat disagree. There's other fights on the table that would pay just as much (just as much as a 50/50 split with Pac), and be looked at as just as big or bigger risk than Pac for Mayweather. I think what some people are forgetting is that Mayweather will probably make $40M+ by fighting Williams or Martinez just like with Mosley because the PPV sales will probably be around the same as with Mosley and Mayweather will likely be able to demanda big enough purse split with either to make than he would fighting Pac at 50/50. So since he's the bigger draw, it really makes no sense for him to settle for 50/50 when he could make more money with others getting a fairer deal. Pac likely would also have to turn to Williams or Martinez for a payday of that magnitude. Problem is, Pac isn't naturally as big as Mayweather so fighting Willaims and Martinez probably isn't something Arum and Roach will want Pac doing. So basically, Pac needs Mayweather at this point more than Mayweather needs Pac. Pacquaio fighting Margarito might not be a bad thing. Because personally, I think Pacquaio-Margarito would do a million PPV buys easily. Then, Pac would be able to come back as more of an equal with Mayweather instead of the obvious B side of the promotion.Comment

Take two crushing blows to the head within a minute of each other. Blows that would have floored maybe 90% in the division and dominate the rest of the round with harder punches coming after the guy not running. Yep, you got it "SUSPECT WHISKERS"!!!!Comment

Cotto isn't a national draw, he's the equivalent of a regional team. He's popular in certain parts of the country(NY for example) but he isn't a national sports figure much in the way Trinidad was before him. Pac sang on Jimmy Kimmel for god sakes, he connects with a younger audience and was given the first seat on Jay Leno or David Letterman, not at the conclusion of their shows. He has an accessible personality which helps. Floyd did big numbers because of the residual effect of his first 24/7. I bet the house if he takes on what people perceive as soft touches and without HBO 24/7 his numbers will drop substantially. I also guarantee you if he fought someone like Clottey he wouldn't have done comparable numbers and half the stadium would have been empty.
but thinking is not their thing!!!Comment

Exactly how is Team Pac doing that? By leaking information to the media, exactly what they said they wouldn't do? Manny accepted the 14 day thing as a preimptive strike to win public opinion over because he knew that since Mosley did it totally random then he would be under the same scrutny. You claim Mayweather is sabotaging the fight, how do you know that? By the things that Pac's lawyers are saying? The double talk that comes out of Roach's mouth? Mayweather and his entire team has been silent throughout this entire thing.Comment

I'm not sure he does big numbers with either Martinez or PWill. I could be wrong, aside from hardcore fans who love Martinez, will he be enough to garner a 24/7 series(does he even speak English?), which has been a recipe for big numbers--targeted advertising. I agree that Mayweather does have more options, hopefully he chooses the most challenging ones, that's always been the caveat with him.Comment
