Some English boxing fans who post here at boxingscene were rooting for Hopkins to beat Calzaghe and for Mayweather to defeat Hatton (Dynamite Kid, Parody, Technical_Skill, minion, etc).

But I've never seen an English boxing fan not support a black English boxer.

1) I am not a racist but there are racists around even in the UK. ok take your time with that.

2) The BNP is the party that the racists support in the UK. So if a NON racist is making a point about racists he might well mention them. Doesn't mean he supports them. Maybe have a lie down at this point and read the rest later.

3) If you have 2 English people and one is a racist and one isn't and you have a boxing match between a black English fighter and a white American fighter what will happen is the racist will support the american fighter because he is white and the non racist will support the English fighter because he doesn't give a stuff about his colour.

Kind of have mixed feelings really. For example, I know a lot of the West Indians in England generally support the West Indies against England and whilst I can see the empathy in both cases I would always hope that people can intergrate into a country enough to feel totally part of it enough to cheer their sides on. Maybe stay neutral and enjoy the game there and support both teams against all others.

Bit like supporting a Ukranian against a Canadian because:
1) Your grandparents lived there 60 years ago, and
2) The Ukranian was white
