Team Pacquiao said yesterday that there were reports the undefeated American has demanded a bigger share of the purse for the showdown being planned for Nov. 13.

“We just got word that it seems to be that way,” said Pacquiao’s lawyer, Franklin Gacal, yesterday, just hours after Pacquiao was discharged from the hospital after a second bout with acid reflux.

“But we will never agree to that,” said Gacal, who added that Mayweather now believes he deserves a bigger share than Pacquiao based on the pay-per-view sales of their most recent fights.

Mayweather and Mosley sold 1.4 million PPV hits last May 1 while Pacquiao did around 700,000 in his fight with Joshua Clottey last March.

However, Gacal said the fight with Clottey should not be used as a gauge of Pacquiao’s drawing power, but the one he had against Miguel Cotto late last year, a 12-round contest that sold 1.25 million hits.

“It’s the Cotto fight they should look at and not the Clottey fight. And it’s pretty even, so we’re sticking to the fifty-fifty percent split between Manny and Floyd if they ever fight,” said Gacal.

The lawyer did not confirm if it was Bob Arum, in the US quietly trying to make the superfight happen, who told them that Mayweather is now demanding for a bigger purse.

But Pacquiao’s business manager, Eric Pineda, said word indeed reached the Pacquiao camp yesterday that Mayweather now wants a bigger share of the purse. In case of a 50-50 sharing, the two fighters can earn around $40 million each.

“Yes, we were told that Floyd now wants a bigger share. And if that’s the case, we now feel that he really doesn’t want to fight Manny because Floyd knows we will never agree on that,” said Pineda.

Apparently, Pacquiao was not happy with the news because it could mean that the fight will never take place.

Pacquiao said a few days ago he was giving in to Mayweather’s demand to have blood tests taken 14 days before the fight, or even closer than that as long as it’s not on the day of the fight itself.

But Pacquiao’s willingness to do more blood tests were met by reports that Mayweather, as of February, had renewed his demand. From 14 days, he said he wants it done “all the way to the fight.”
PPv numbers for the Mayweather vs Mosely garnered 1.4million. 2 americans in their homeland. While Pacman who is a foreigner who fought cotto (a foreigner as well) who is just as popular as mosely got 1.3 million ppv.

So I would say based on popularity their both equals knowing pac cotto are both foreigners and getting those huge numbers.

Mayweather keeps on saying it was him not Delahoya who made the 2.4 million record for ppv now we know it was really DELAHOYA who had all the fans- 2.4million.

Note: Mosely owns the gate for number of attendance in the staple center. It shows how big a draw he is.

Plus, don't forget that there are "no" 24/7 and huge marketing, commercials for the Pacquiao Clottey fight. And Clottey ain't a popular fighter.

24/7 and commercials where done only for the Mayweather, Mosely and Pacquiao Cotto fight.
And Mosely has been in more PPV fights than Cotto

That's where your wrong. Pac wasn't a house hold name yet when he fought DLH. It was after beating DLH that made him a popular boxer. Mayweather was already a star when he fought DLH and had fought in american soil in more years than pac.

It was after DLH that shoot him up as a house hold name. Pac was going up in popularity.

When Pac fought hatton it was 850k while before that mayweather fought hatton for 900k. (note hatton that time was undefeated so it was more sale able to the viewing public knowing their both undefeated fighting each other.

When Pac fought Hatton he still did 850k even if Hatton's star power wasn't the same like when he faced Mayweather coz he wasn't undefeated anymore.

The best way of gauging their populartiy is their present fight that had 24/7 and commercial hype, which is cotto, pac and Mayweahter mosely fight.

You can't pay a hollywood actor a huge talent fee if his star power is waning down. If a holllywood actor was big in the 90's but not anymore at present. Will you still pay him the huge amount he commands in the past? Ofcourse not, you give him his talent on assumption of his star quality @ present.

Hence the best comparison is the closest present fight they both had an even popular opponent. With both having 24/7 and commercials.

Note: Mosely Mayweather promotion was way up in promoting hype and commercials compared to cotto pac. Golden Boy spent a ton of money in commercials and billboards etc. And there numbers where close 1.3 pac cotto, 1.4 may mosely.

Btw, Mayweather and Mosely are both americans who are asking american viewing pubic to pay HBO PPV.

What the hell does being a non-American have to do with anything? I am a serious boxing fan. I, and all the other serious boxing fans don't give a damn if the fighters are from Mars. If they are good fighters I will watch them and if I like them enough and I think it is worth it, I will pay to watch them fight. Being American has nothing to do with it.

          • Absurd blood test demands till the day of the fight AND a greater share of the purse?

Just say you're afraid Floyd and move on already.

            • Manny wants no part of Floyd.

he will use the blood test as an excuse.

Floyd deserves more than 60-40, he doubled Manny's last fight.

All me to engage in some shameless behavior by pointing out a few observations. 1) Mayweather and his team have not been talking incessantly about fighting Pac since the negotiations broke down for the first fight. Pac's team has. 2) Mayweather didn't "give in" on the drug testing. He strengthened his position by saying he now will only fight if there is no cutoff on testing. Pac "gave in" and is asking for the 14-day cutoff that Mayweather originally offered, but is no longer on the table; 3) Mayweather's team has not said a word about Pac since the Mosley fight. Pac's team won't stop talking about Mayweather. That includes Pac himself.

The *******s are deluding themselves into thinking that both fighters are equal in terms of negotiations. In spite of what these clowns from Pac's team are saying, if there is a fight, Mayweather will get the bigger split. No ifs, ands or buts about it. Why? Because Mayweather can fight Ricky Hatton, Sergio Martinez, Andre Berto, Timothy Bradley, Amir Khan or Devon Alexander and make two to three times as much money as Pac would fighting Margarito or anyone on this list.

Saying that may be shameless, but it is true!

                • let's just hope everyone agrees.

Pac should agree, he already has way more money than Floyd anyway from different sources. Pac can get 40% of US PPV on this fight plus Asian PPV money and TV rights. So 40% or 45% wouldn't be much of a difference.

or maybe Pac gets 40% US PPV but he gets 60% the rest of the globe as he has proven to be more popular worldwide.

and he gets 99% of Philippine rights and PPV's. LOL.

                  Ok. Let's just stop. :-)

                  • I'd say 60-40, winner takes 60.

                    • Floyd will demand:

                      90/10 split
Blood test every day, and the last one during the national anthems just prior to the fight
That Ellerbe is allowed to rub both fighters chests in between rounds
Free crack for Roger and Sr during fight week

                      There will be no fight.
