    I never hear boxers who were born, raised, and live in Puerto Rico referred to as American fighters.

    I mean I've heard Hector Camacho Sr. referred to as an American fighter, but he grew up in Harlem.

      If you ask any Puerto Rican if they think of themselves as an American they will likely tell you they don't. Even though PR is technically part of America, they consider themselves their own country. Miguel is in no way an American fighter.

          He's a PR boxer. They have their own island and that his home base.....They wouldn't consider themselves American so neither would I consider them American.

            Yes, though Ricans have the same rights as any U.S citizen, like some said they have their own culture totally separate from main stream America and they generally don't refer to themselves as Americans and most Americans think of them as foreign when they come here.
