Dana White Says Mayweather, Pacquiao Would Lose in MMA

see, I have always been in the minority in this because I have always felt that the elite level speed guys in boxing could compete in MMA. Trust me, I in no way doubt MMA but I do think people severly underrate the difference in speed & precision there is from a boxer to & MMA guy. If you guys think Floyd & Pac look fast now. Put them in an Octagon and it will be something out of a futuristic movie. I say that because Ive seen fast skillful guys like Silva look like crap in a boxing ring. You can say "duh, its boxing" but he truly looks unskilled & slow, yet in MMA he's the most skilled & fast.
If he looks that skilled & fast then I know what Pac & Floyd would look like. No doubt people will try to take them down but I dont think that is going to be so easy & clear like others think. Do you realize how fast a Mayweather or Pac is? If you kick & the jump back, I think they can avoid that kick. I think there speed will be so superior. I also think that if anyone tries to rush them & grab, they are fast enough to run away while throwing a punch at the same time and boxers with 4oz gloves equal murder. Again, Im not saying those guys would win but I do think there are some solid guys they could beat and I just think people underrate there chancesLast edited by DLT; 05-24-2010, 12:13 PM.Comment

One thing is for sure with the right training a top boxer can make it in MMA faster then a MMA guy can make it in boxing, and Im just going by MMA's track record. You see all kind of trash, old, late to mid 20's, retired, second and third rate athletes, transition and jump into MMA like its nothing all the time.Comment

I could see your point, the footwork would have to be good.see, I have always been in the minority in this because I have always felt that the elite level speed guys in boxing could compete in MMA. Pacman would have a very good shot at facing anyone in a MMA fight, it is what he grew up doing and his footwork is superior to almost any MMA fighter I have ever seen.
Only guys with great footwork would have a shot at winning in the MMA. The hand speed factor would be huge, but I think footwork would be a huge issue.
If any of those boys tried to fight a boxer up right for even thirty seconds though they would get lit up and lose an embarrassing one sided match.Comment

no ****. and most MMA fighters would get their souls taken if they had to box. You can't rest on the ground in boxing like you do the MMA, unless you gettin knocked the fizuck out.UFC President Dana White gave an interview Monday morning in which he talked about all the usual things (promoting the soon-to-be released UFC video game and this weekend's UFC pay-per-view), but he also had an interesting exchange with radio host Dan Patrick about the world's two best boxers, Floyd Mayweather Jr. and Manny Pacquiao.
White said Mayweather and Pacquiao would lose if they gave mixed martial arts a try. I think he's half right.Comment
