I'm sure they do but it isn't the same thing. When I run on a track for a few days or a few weeks, then run on a treadmill, I can do the same distance I could do on the track but I can run twice as fast and never get winded. There is no friction experienced on a treadmill like on a track or road, your legs have it easy so you probably burn less calories.

Treadmill is probably easier on the knees in the long term, it'd be interesting to see how a top level fighter would do if over his whole career he did all his road work on a treadmill.

Surely u guys have seen floyd running treadmills on 24/7? Road work is called road work for a reason, the treadmill is an alternative when running outside is not convenient. It's no problem running on a treadmill but dont rely on it - especially if youre a boxer, it's obviously not as effective. Hence, why boxers run outside. If u dont believe, try it and you'll soon notice the difference for yourself.

emmanuel steward once said jermain taylor would stay in his room and run on the tredmill instead of doing road work with the guys.
