The ex-heavyweight champion of the WBA, Nikolai Valuev, liked what he saw in Ruslan Chagaev's twelve round decision win over Kali Meehan in Saturday's fight in Germany. The fight was a WBA eliminator for a shot at current champion David Haye. Chagaev was the first fight to beat Valuev on points. Valuev has not fought since losing his title to Haye last year. He is waiting for a date to fight Odlanier Solis in a WBC eliminator. [Click Here To Read More]

Strange comments, Valuev nuthugging Chagaev
I think Chagaev looked ok, some people said he looked bad but I think he did quite well after the lay off and the last ass whooping he received, almost everything he threw landed on Meehan.

Haye should fight a Klitschko in his next fight and stop hand-picking fights. I'll favor Haye over anyone who isn't Klitschko, Povetkin, Solis, or even Adamek.Comment

No one should get to over confident in chagaev's chances of beating haye...he beat Kali meehan whose only decent win came against williamson.Comment

Fighters who took physical beatings from either Klitschko have a great chance at losing to Haye. It must be quite painful getting battered around the ring by fighters who are very powerful.Comment

I didn't watch the Meehan/Chagaev fight but opinions seem to be polarised - some say it was an excellent performance while a lot of others are downplaying it.
Either way I can't really see either beating Haye; i'd say he stops Chagaev around 8 or 9, and gets rid of Meehan in about 5.Comment

So, he's going to stop a guy that only Wlad has stopped and that has never been down in his whole amateur and pro career (except against Wlad of course) faster than Wlad did? You're funny. You probably thought he was going to stop Valuev tooI didn't watch the Meehan/Chagaev fight but opinions seem to be polarised - some say it was an excellent performance while a lot of others are downplaying it.

I'm a little baffled by everyone talking about how 'bad' Chags looked. He looked fine to me, still had his sharp quick left hand and decent head movement. Good punch output. He doesn't look washed up by any means. Haye would have trouble with this guy, I think.Comment
