I've always liked Ste***** honesty, but he also needs to be pumping Cottos confidence rather than downplaying his chances IMO.
its called having "respect" for your opponent. steward aint gonna come out and say they will destroy foreman because steward never trained or been in cotto's corner before.

Unless you got 2 foot height and 10 inches reach advantage Emmanuel isn't going to help you much.

Steward has great game plans...Cotto has a great conditioner and nutritionist...not only that but Steward gives great advice in the corner and has seen Cotto's most important fights live...Steward is the man for this Job...

              again...he didnt train cintron

the closest thing he came to training with steward was lifting weights and doing push ups with wlad

what do you mean he didnt train cintron? he was in his corner for the fight that is for sure and gave him a bad strategy up until the 6th round

what steward is doing goes beyond having respect for your opponent when was the last time a fighters trainer said that it was a 50-50 fight and that you would never have chosen this guy to fight the guy your training? i think steward is either trying to get more credit if cotto wins or doesnt believe cotto has much left and is making sure he doesnt look bad if cotto fails.

Steward had ups and downs, but right now he needs more than luck to turn things around for Miguel, I do hope he didn't totally change Cotto, but if he did, hoping its for the better. I'd like to see Cotto back in harness as an elite fighter.

Rooting for Cotto on this, but Yuri's not a walk in the park.

This was my thoughts as well. I don't know if it was a self centered comment or not, but I did think that it was not exactly flattering towards Cotto.
