    That would certainly merit it but, if he gets launched straight into the main event spotlight against Pacquiao this November, I will be livid. He has done nothing whatsoever to warrant that spot. I'm no fan of Berto (I can't stand watching him), but he's done faaaaaaar more to earn a shot against either cash cow.
    Matching him up in NOvember is a bit frivolous, but not unthinkable.

    I just don't like this notion going around that Margarito should somehow be exiled. He's still a player by every standard.

      Yes, and that's the key word right there - legacy. They've nearly solidified their legacies with their own wins (of which I won't get into here, because it's been done so many times already), but they won't ever be totally complete without a win over each other to finish it.

      It'd be like when Calzaghe retired without fighting all those names being thrown around, but on a far less grand scale.

        I know it's the popular notion around here, but I don't subscribe to it. I say let him prove that he's worthy of being back in the top spot, but it'll take some time - and a stylish win over a big name - to do so.
