The way Amir Khan is being hyped after beating Malignaggi is not going to do the kid any good. The whole reason Pauli was chosen as an opponent is because he is not a puncher. I think when, or if Khan fights the top guys like Alexander or Bradley he will get exposed again. Malignaggi caught Amir quite a few times and bust his right eye up (anyone see it in the interview) I give credit to Khan for wanting to fight the top guys, but can't see it happening any time soon. Roach and GBP will give him some more soft fights first. Both Alexander and Bradley beat him easily in my opinion. I would also pick Ortiz over Khan too.

Khan began to lose popularity in England for several reasons. Because of some of his brash statements, for example, and because of a driving record that a Zimbabwean would be ashamed of. Khan has hit two pedestrians with his car and was once stopped for going over 140 mph on the M62. In addition, even in the UK, Khan was considered, to an extent, protected. Bypassing shots at the British and European titles also gave critics the ammunition they needed to say that Khan was being moved carefully. “It also didn’t help when the hype surrounding him at the start of his career far outweighs his talent,” says Dave Oakes, who is a boxing writer in the U.K. “Don’t get me wrong, he’s a talented fighter, but he has one major weakness – his chin. The boxing fans in this country aren’t ******, they know when a fighter’s being protected and they don’t like it. He’s fought one puncher in his career and got knocked out by him; I doubt he’ll be in with anyone who can punch any time soon.” When Khan was blasted out in 54 seconds by Prescott in 2008, the cat seemed out of the bag, as far as some were concerned. Khan also gave an interview to GQ in which he stated his intention to fight opponents when they are over the hill: “You have to know the best time to have these big fights in your career. If you look at Oscar De La Hoya, he fought all the best fighters when they were on the way downhill, and not at their best. I want to catch these guys when they have come off their peak. But I have to be careful because there might be a younger version of me coming up who wants to do exactly the same to me.” Given how Golden Boy operates–and the first match they proposed for Khan was a bout with former featherweight champion Juan Manuel Marquez, who smelled the aroma of “patsy” and wisely turned it down.

All young fighters get over-hyped at some point, thats the way it is

Maidana maybe could do it, and because he's the relentless puncher I think a bunch of people see him as the man to take Khan down, but I don't think he's the surest bet.

You might regret this bet later on, Ben, haha.

He fought Osin ***an after he lost. Most people called the fight how it was, that Barrera was old and moving up in weight.

Also that fight should have been a No contest but they waited one more round so he could get the win.

One crash was not his fault. He was cleared.

To be hated for driving offences? OK fair do's...

Just hope the haters don't speed or never had a car crash themselves. I myself have speeded, not gonna lie.

I don't hear much hate for Mitchell who said a lot pre katsidis fight. He wanted JMM - Diaz.

The comment on their way down was bad though. Enough to hate? No

                  I believe so, too.

Well, not exposed, but handled (probably knocked out in Alexander's case).

I agree the fight was dodgy, shudda been a NC but Khan won every round just to add.

As for JMM, they turned it down. JMM's trainer did.

***an was not a good fight, but the first for Freddie and Khan.

Why should I hate a fighter for talking?
Then I agree. I don't hold anything Khan's saying against him - I don't even think the comments he made about 'catching the great fighters on the downside' were interpreted correctly.

Shouldn't have hated on May for what he said, either, though - he's delivered a lot of action fights down the years even before his last 3, just had a few dull ones (from an action perspective) at welter. =P
