Ivan Calderon is a pure boxer. But, he is not a slugger, if he comes forward he might not do good he doesn't have that kind of style or maybe skill set to come forward. But, he is a pure boxer.

JMM would you consider him a pure boxer? Or Barrera a pure boxer? Ricardo Lopez?

    Don't duck the questions.
A pure boxer does it all, dont be so limited in your view.

C'mon man, Roy Jones would start his combos off with left hooks.....HOOKS. He didnt even set his combos up with a jab he would jump in there and start throwing mutiple hooks with the same hand. If thats a pure boxer I wish they would've taught me that when I first started boxing.

So Calderon is not a pure boxer. But, Barrera is.

        Is that what you're saying?

So then Marco Antonio Barrera is a pure boxer? Juan Manuel Marquez, too?

you mean they didn't teach you the hands behind the back hook that roy jones used when you first started. Don't you know that is a pure boxer move???

He'll outbox Brock Lesnar using nothing but the purest of boxing skills. All without putting down his smokes!!

Hey check this out, for those of you who have an issue with "Pure Boxing" why are you still in the thread? If you disagree with it then exit. Go find something you do agree with, cause to be honest, the truths of the original post is what you want to divert. Let me remind you again:

The highest Paid, Biggest names, most talked about, biggest PPV fighters in the boxing has always and will continue to be the Pure boxers, fighters who happen to have the best all around skills, the most clever in the game. Robinson, Ali, Leonard, Jones, Mayweather!!! What do all of them have in common, they can box their ass off, thats what. And they aint afraid to call you a ***** and then make you look like one in the ring.

A shame that the best you detractors can come up with is if they did it "purely" or not.

No princess, only a person who has very little understanding of the sport would claim that Roy Jones was a pure boxer. If you like I can send you my DVD collection of his fights so YOU can watch him?

Ali was like the least technically sound fighter ever, he just had such ridiculous gifts that he got away with it. He's like the precursor to Roy Jones, another non-pure boxer who was the king for a long time. Mike Tyson, Roberto Duran, Holyfield, Pacquiao, De La Hoya...not pure boxers and were all the faces of boxing for a time.
