that's the thing ^ and many will agree, that while Tyson, Ali and Jones certainly did have great boxing ability

as in the cases of Jones and Ali they were Olympic medalists

but what I underlined highlights what these guys were more known for they could certainly box well, but were also very un-conventional from a technical stand point .. which is what you said.

you're the only one I've heard ever refer to pure boxers as being able to "do it all"

and if you don't like the term virtuoso then how about well rounded because when a boxer can mix in great defense with in fighting, or being able to counter punch well .. I don't think of that fighter as someone who is a "pure boxer"

being able to do it all as you say actually goes against the actual definition of what it means to be pure. (see Red)

      1. okay fine everybody doesn't have to share definitions that's understandable

      2. Not to misquote or try to flame you but if you're using pure as a boxer who can "do it all" ... that's just misusing the word, nothing about the exact definition of pure says anything about "being able to do it all"

you make some interesting points, but versatility would be a better word to use. That the fighters you named don't have to rely on 1 thing to win a fight, they combine their boxing ability with natural talents

you see a style similarity with Muhammad Ali, Maweather, DLH and RJJ? the only thing boxing wise these guys have in common is they're all Olympic medalists

and they also have tons of natural talent (already mentioned but quick reflexes to name one)

exacting ^ ... heck TS should have called these guys Hybrid fighters .. that'd be much more accurate to say

cuz their is some truth to what he originally says regarding how these guys transcended the sport (Ali, Sugar Ray, DLH)... but I think you're the only one who thinks they did it with "pure boxing"

but IMO and where the TS goes wrong is he's pulling a little too much at something that's only there a tiny bit

i think the TS has a valid opinion and if you disagree that doesn't make him an idiot or someone to be laughed at. p.s. floyd should have been fighter of the decade.. no doubt. thats a farce. andi was a manny pacquiao fan before most of you knew who he was. floyds fights with de la hoya and gatti where everyone thought 1 punch landed would equal a KO, now people have the nerve to say they knew he would win. people who predicted floyd wins used to be a minority.

Barrera did all that too. So he is a pure boxer right?

That is the 2nd time I seen you say that... I am starting to think that is not true...

And, you're wrong TS is an idiot. But, in his defense he only started watching boxing in 2007. So he is relatively new to the sport.

And, lol @ at the notion that Gatti or an old part time fighter, full time promoter had a shot against Floyd

I'm sorry neither Gatti or Oscar were favourites in either fight.

Not according to the fans or the casino, Floyd was a VERY heavy favourite in the gatti fight. If you thought Gatti would win you were simply ******ed.
