What is the basic similarity? Fast feet? fast hands? work behind a jab?

Roy Jones did not work behind a jab, thats the truth. He had a good jab but he didn't use it. I don't see the similarity between Ali and Mayweather, they both position their hands differently, they both use different styles of attack and defence, they both move their feet differently.

I don't see the similarities with Oscar either, in Oscar's early career he was a heavy boxer puncher leaning towards wreckless which is why he got dropped against lesser guys. I don't see where you get the idea that these are all pure boxers, the general consensus is that a pure boxer is a fundementally sound fighter. To say they dominate ith their boxing skills is ignorant.

It's like you ignore that sluggers and brawlers don't have skills, Julio Cesar Chavez was incredibly skilled. Your the only one so far that has come up with your definition of Pure Boxer, which is not the definition. It's like me saying that Foreman, Maidana, Abraham, Wlad are all sluggers because they can punch...

Nice post but if u cant detect "boxing" when u see it then I cant help you. If u cant see similarities between Floyd, RJ, Ali, SRL, SRR then u just not paying attention.

Ok, fine. How about Roy Jones and Floyd? Or Floyd and Ali?

Read the post, I can detect similarities in their attributes such as fast hands, fast feet, smart boxing brains and sharp reflexes but their styles are different.

I'm asking you to show me how their styles are different, not just "some of them worked behind a jab" because not all of them did and not all in the same way. Ali used a jab as a primary weapon, Floyd uses a jab to set up the right hand if he isn't throw it as a lead or to disrupt rhythm, Roy (when he used it which wasn't often) used it as almost a power punch, Oscar used it as a main weapon and a great way to release that awesome left hook.

Ali did not body punch and used a combination of feet and subtle head movement to evade punches, Roy in his prime used his feet to get away from shots, mayweather can stay in the pocket and uses his reflexes and his philly shell defense, Oscar primarily used his high guard to stop shots etc.

I'm asking you how are their styles the same? Because no one singular similarity means they are the same type of fighter. I mean what Robinson or Leonard fights have you watched? The general defination of a pure boxer is one that works behind behind solid fundementals, Roy and Ali defy boxing fundementals. They get away with it because of their athleticism, when their athleticism fades they start being hit more and end up losing alot more. Whereas a boxer with Solid fundementals like Hopkins can go on fighting even without the fitness of his youth.

Damn, backtracking and generalizing your terms to the point of bs just because you can't admit you were wrong?

So basically your thread should say "Boxers have always ruled boxing"

Would Ivan Calderon be the most active pure boxer currently?

Out of the top 3 ATG's only Robinson could be boxer-puncher. Armstrong and Greb are swarmers.
