Oxnard boxer Fernando Vargas is expected to plead no contest to felony assault charges in connection with a 1999 beating outside Santa Barbara and could avoid jail time as a result.
Vargas' co-manager Rolando Arellano said the fighter and his attorneys have not committed to making the plea when he returns to court May 7. That leaves open the possibility of a trial.
However, Hilary Dozer, a deputy district attorney in Santa Barbara, said Vargas' attorneys led him to believe they would plead no contest...

If ya'll remember that story.....I was all up in the mix when it went down.......he got into it with my boi Arreaga....my boy threw him aroudn a bit....then Vargas got his "bodyguards" to rough up some dude (they got the wrong guy)
