JMM performed better than Shane did, and Shane fought successfully at 154.

As I said earlier.....
Marquez had two chances to even be competitive in that fight. He needed to take some of his power and most of his speed with him to 147, and Floyd needed to be less-than-his-best, possibly affected by the layoff and the 2lb catchweight.

Neither of those two things happened, but I think that the HUGE jump in weight and the limited time available to prepare contributed to Marquez lack of speed. JMM is a career featherweight, not a lightweight.

Dont forget, Mayweather does not help make anyone look good.

At 140 JMM may be competitive, but he needs speed to impose his style on his opponent. He did not lose his skills by going up to 147 to fight Floyd, he lost his speed and got outmatched by a larger opponent who just happens to have one of the most accomplished skill-sets ever.

If JMM can get his speed back, and start feeling comfortable at say 138'ish, who knows? He is a truly superb fighter, maybe he could be competitive at 140 if he settled into that weight and could retain the same speed he had even at lightweight.

Maybe I'm only wishing that coz of the 4th title thing, and coz I know that apart from Pac there is no money in boxing for Marquez unless he goes to 140.

Mate, roach was saying the excat same thing before the 2nd fight, how hes a diferent fighter with two hands now etc. Although i agree Pac would beat him now more due to weight and power increasing with it, while still keeping his speed makes him a much more dangerous fighter, he'd prob knock him out.

Jumping from 135 to 147 without fighting at 140 and fighting the best will make you look like ****.

JMM can beat some guys at 140. I don't think he can beat the top guys like Bradley, Devon, etc.
