Paul Williams should just try to unify 154 Pounds.

Paul Williams is successful in spite of his team. Goosen has done good making him an HBO child, but that's literally the only thing that team has done right with this guy's career.
I like Serg but once that 6'3 frame is in the ring with him, he'll get overwhelmed and put to sleep. I'm not even a Williams fan but he brings the action and he can clean 154lbs.

He does have a hell of a jab, but I don't think his footwork was anything special...

      Look who he was fighting...

Its alot better than Paul's and his feet are much much faster.

He should be able to get away which he would aim to do or just tie Paul up after picking his shots.

I could see it be very frustrating for Williams after 6 where he hasn't gotten off much effective offense and has eaten alot of jabs.

All that leaves is Cotto-Foreman and Martinez.

Williams would wax Cotto and Foreman. Martinez might be fighting Floyd or defending at 160 and might get stripped at 154 which would leave a vacant WBC belt. That Chavz Jr..lol is the Number 1 contender for.

if pwill wants HBO to take him seriously at 147 lbs, he gotta start campaigning there, otherwise no one has any reason to fight him there.

The WBO title is not a reward.

And it has nothing to do with the Dawson fight, I've seen Sergei fight before, and he's a bad match up for Paul.

Do I think Williams would find a way to outwork him? Probably. But it's not worth the risk, it's a ****ing ******ed business decision.

He's gotta go for Martinez, that has to be his top priority. Hell, even fighting Pavlik at a catchweight is better.

I don't know what more evidence people need to see that Williams should be kept away from crafty southpaws.

Dzinziruk isn't a slick fighter, but he's a pretty good fighter.

He's much more of a traditional, textbook "European" style fighter. His jab is damn good. He's going to be very difficult to beat if Williams, or any other opponent, doesn't find a way to negate it.

In this same post you said he gotta go for Martinez.

The WBO title is a step towards unification which is the whole point of the thread.

Of course cause Martinez is WORTH the risk. The lineal middlweight championship, and a fight HBO would put A LOT of money up for.

Sergei is NOT worth the risk. At all. I would respect Paul, but that doesn't really matter, cause I already do. We all know Paul would fight a Grizzly Bear if he had to.

It's just a poor, poor business decision. He already has a win over Martinez. He loses to Martinez, it doesn't set him back that far, Martinez is already held in high regard and it would set up a trilogy.

He loses to Sergei and that is VERY damaging to his career.
