It's high, but his elbows are locked shut. Like Cotto, it leaves him open for an uppercut. However, the way he crouches forward so aggressively whilst bobbing and weaving may reduce the risk of getting caught from below.

The same way a light-hitting Diaz was humiliating Marquez for most of their fight? Katsidis on that night would've beaten Marquez and possibly stopped him. I'm sure of it.

Correction - charges forward in straight lines. Kats is not like Hatton who just plods forward without any regard for head movement. He'll literally barge up against his man, swing his whole body left and right, and work his way inside. He doesn't give a **** if the guy is the best technician in the world - his answer is to beat the **** out of them.

First of all, I must congratulate you on such well-articulated and constructive post.

Secondly, perhaps you might want to take a step back from all this hate and consider how much trouble Casamayor and Diaz were giving Marquez until he pulled out the stoppages from nowhere.

Thirdly, what's really a joke is that Marquez has basically hijacked 4 belts at 135, yet hasn't defended them for 15 months. The Mayweather fight shouldn't have anything to do with it - he's lucky the latter went easy on him, and he's had 8 months to sit around doing nothing.

Oh ffs, his chin wasn't "cracked". He ran into a well-timed shot and went down. It happens in boxing. I can just as well say Pacquiao's chin was cracked from a jab by Hussein, or Yeshmagambetov, or Torrecampo, or Sangsurat.

A future HOF'er shouldn't be clinging onto belts that he has no intention of defending. He's been there and done it all, but Kats hasn't - therefore it's pretty obvious as to who actually needs that belt in order to boost their career.

Marquez is basically the same style as Casamayor but slightly less aggressive with a little more power.
One big difference - Casamayor was an awkward southpaw who gave Marquez hell.

Yep I agree, Kats is all heart and guts.

But if you were to add just one more little word in there, you are actually describing Marquez..... heart, guts, and skill.

Marquez needs to fight Katsidis or give up the belt to him. The problem is Marquez is getting more money elsewhere and the commission needs to grow nuts and make him fight Katsidis.
Hi James, good to see another kiwi on here.

In my opinion, JMM should vacate.

**** being 37 years old, a living legend with nothing left to prove, looking to wind down your career by making some big money fights..... but he forced to waste another 6 months of your life fighting mandatories against some kid who got beaten by two guys that you just KTFO.

There is only one money fight left for JMM. He needs to position himself very carefully over the next two months. He needs to overtake Margarito as Pac's "plan B"..... if not, then look for money fights at 140, in the hope of getting a chance at that 4th title.

JMM is a sure fire future HOFer why does he HAVE to fight this guy he brings no money no legacy no name. Diaz is a blatant attempt at a payday cuz the first fight was so good. JMM maybe has three fights left in him he's 36 going on 37. As a big Marquez fan I'd like to see him challenge one of the champs at 140. Sure he's too small and those guys are probably too big and fast. But if you're a Marquez fan that's what you love him cuz he challenges himself and always finds a way. win or loose he can cash out against Soto or Moralez or even better both. He has no obligation to give guys like this "a chance" **** that.
He may have to fight him because Katsidis is his mandatory.

Mandatory commitments don't account for age, money, legacy, or status.

JMM needs to dump that belt.

You make it sound like Kats is somehow at fault for Marquez being put in this position. :conf1: He's the one who went AWOL after the Mayweather loss (another position in which he put himself - first by asking for the fight, and then losing it so badly). Aww, poor fella!

All the while Kats lost twice in '08, but he's built up his ranking by fighting all those put in front of him and has earned a shot at that belt - Marquez just happens to be clinging onto it. He's like a slow car holding up traffic. Pull over to the side and let the young 'uns go at it.

                      Marquez is deceptive though.

I like Katsidis but his style is tailor made for Marquez. It's a counter puncher's dream to have a guy like Katsidis comming forward at you the whole fight. Specially with a guy who is about 50/50 aggressive/defensive.

If Katsidis got hell with Casamayor, Marquez would give him the 5th circle of it.
