Wes Owens ''Andre Ward Has Ray Robinson Potential''

I was at the gym today, and speakin to a friend, that said a boxing writer Wes Owens said Andre Ward has Ray Robinsin potential, he is that good.

I was a bit shocked and thought he was joking, but he wasn't.

Thoughts, does Ward have Suger Ray Robinson potential?

I'm not sure exactly what he is getting at. Ward is a good fighter, but it's still too early to make a statement like that. Way too early.

Well Ray Robinson reached complete immortality in boxing, that's far beyond being called great or an ATG. So to say that Andre Ward has that type of potential is way out of bounds. Robinson was much more than just a technically good boxer with quick hands.

Ward is still very young.

I don't know about SRR potential....but definately future p4p #1 status in the next 5-6 yrs....winning the Super 6 will not hurt him either...

Ray Robinson could knock you out with one punch from either hand. Ward clearly doesn't have that kind of pop.
