It's you who has taken my statements out of context, now twice in this thread.I'm not getting your logic.
There are different body types, my friend, I do hope you realize that, because I can not understand your argument. Tyson at 15 weighed over 180 pounds solid. Roy at 15, even if he were 5'11, probably weighed only 120-130 pounds.
Tyson was just a naturally big person - and he never put on any weight through weight training. His routine was eat whatever I want, run, calisthenics, and box - that's it. He was not an artificial heavyweight, he was a natural.
A boxers height has nothing to do with what their natural weight is. Tyson would find it difficult to fight in any weight class outside of heavy. He might be ok at CW but he'd be drained at LHW.
If you're going to take things out of context and try to twist concepts around into ridiculous claims then there is no debating with you.
The first time I ridiculed the logic of another poster for criticizing Robinson for his losses to Pender and Giardello when he was 40+ years old, so I brought up Jones's meaningless losses to Danny Green and Joe Calzaghe. For me, none of those losses matter.
This time another poster was criticizing Robinson for not fighting at light heavyweight/heavyweight like Jones, even though Robinson was clearly the smaller man in weight (prime weight 20 lbs below Jones's) despite the similar height. Caballero, Robinson, Jones & Tyson may be the same height, but Caballero is a 122 lb man, Robinson was a 147 lb man, Jones was a 168 lb man and Tyson was a 220 lb man. There are no height classes in boxing but weight classes.Comment

We don't have any vids of Ray Robinson in his prime. That being said.........I refuse to believe ANY human being was more skilled than Roy Jones Jr. in his prime. In his Prime RJJ is the most skilled fighter of all time. Power, Speed, Timing, Quickness, Fast hands, Speed like a lightweight and punching power like a Heavyweight. Most skilled EVER.Last edited by SkillspayBills; 05-17-2010, 07:36 PM.Comment

Agreed and that should conclude this ridiculous thread where Jones is losing a poll on the easy to judge subject. We don't have any vids of Ray Robinson in his prime. That being said.........I refuse to believe ANY human being was more skilled than Roy Jones Jr. in his prime. In his Prime RJJ is the greatest fighter of all time. I can't stand when people do this ****. You disagree with anything about Sugar Ray Robinson being the best and people automatically assume "Oh you just don't like those old school fights or you haven't seen them HERE WATCH THESE!!!!" I've seen all the Sugar Ray Robinson videos I could find. Fullmer, Turpin Lamotta, I spend a good three months updating myself on whatever videos came up. I STILL believe in his Prime Roy Jones Jr. is the most skilled fighter to ever exist.Comment

Depends on your definition of "skill". As far as learned technique and the fundamentals, Robinson was definitely better than Jones. Jones arguably the most natural athleticism of any boxer however.
I just don't think of Jones's speed, power and reflexes as learned skill. Obviously he had to train a lot to master his abilities but he was definitely gifted and the average person wouldn't ever be able to box like he does. Robinson was much more of a technician than Jones ever was.Comment
