i think that was a pretty smart move if that's actually what happened. when i saw ali at ringside, it instantly made the fight just that more "important" in my eyes.
Boxing is in competition with MMA. One thing MMA can't do is bring legends of Ali's ilk to one of their shows. Boxing has fallen from grace somewhat, but Ali is still considered the greatest and most famous sportsman of all time. The Rumble in The Jungle and Ali's winning back his title is widely considered the greatest sporting moment in history. You put Ali in the crowd of an event like Mayweather-Mosley, and everything about the event and the sport is immediately elevated beyond the ordinary... and beyond anything MMA could hope to match.
When my friends saw Ali walk to his seat you could see everyone in the Arena stand up and start taking pictures, like said before it adds to the atmosphere. I am a little saddend that my boys Foreman and Fraizer can't get any invites.
