The Dirrell fight will not be in Oakland, or in California for that matter.

Ward will have to travel to Detroit or New York and fight in front of a Pro-Dirrell crowd.

The only BS is that uninformed posters keep pretending that Ward is gonna have all 3 fights in his hometown just for the sake of bitching and moaning when Shaw has already stated that under no circumstance is Dirrell going to Oakland.
I didn't say he was, I said *if*. I've already seen that Shaw probably isn't going to have that but nothing is in stone yet.

If Ward moves onto the next round (I forget what they're calling it) after group stage 3 does he still get the hometown advantage? If he does, this is kind of unfair to all the other fighters in the tournament...

Neutral ground is the fairest thing, but probably star power and ticket sells make a difference but it is possible the venue is negotiated during the signing.

They are seeded according to points after the round robin and the higher ranked fighters should get home advantage, at least as far as continent, when the final rounds are played out.

I think it would be unfair to him if he wins all 3 fights in the opening round and then has to go on the road, there should be an advantage to the guy who wins every fight.

So if Ward and Kessler were to meet again in the #1 vs #4 matchup in the next round the fight should be in Las Vegas or New York but not Oakland, but under no circumstance in Europe.

I still don't. Why did Dirrell not get the same preferential treatment, why was Ward?

Was Ward's negotiating power that strong? let's face it, Dirrell is the more exciting fighter of the two for a casual fan to watch.
