FYI: Pacquiao planned his run for congress since his first election loss in 2007.

LMAO. You got people questioning why certain fighters stay in the game so long, and then at the same time, discredit a boxer's decision to want to leave the sport while he's still young and healthy. The guy's been doing it since he was 16. As long as he fights Floyd, who else is out there? There'll always be a new crop of top guys there that people will throw out there.

Not really cause i knew it wouldn't last, but going into politics seems like a long term decision so i doubt he would come back.

50+ fights is greater than 39 anyone who can grasp basic math would understand that more fights = more punishment.

The only real big fight left is Floyd. Yet with Floyd, he called himself the greatest and hadnt fought many names that we had wanted him to face for a few years.
Its not exactly the same situation.

Its a shame every Pac or Floyd thread turns into a comparison.

i didn't discredit anyone, i said he was in his prime. i regret trying to have an intelligent discussion about a fighter a lot of people get way too emotional about.

I want him to go on man but I think he peaked in the Hatton fight. I think at 147 he's been getting busted up by guys who aren't even on his level. Even though he is winning every round against them, it still takes a toll on his body because his frame is just not made for the division. Add that to all the wars he's been through with Barrera, MArquez, Morales and all the wars before he moved up to 126 and as much as it sucks to say it, its probably the right time to retire.

Also, he's been talking about retiring for a while now. Its not too new. He ran for congress in 2007 and who knows if he had won that one would he still be an active fighter today?

There's a valid reason why he's retiring. He genuinely loves to serve his people and it was an open book plan since he lost the last election (2007).

especially with his style...its not like he was a defensive whiz that never got hit...we're talkin about wars with anyone who was willing
