for me that means that being honest...

      packy > mayweather.

Sugar aint a draw, but he was WAY WAY MORE FAN BASE THAN CLOTTEY... plus sugar vs may had more buzz than packy vs clottey...

still, there was no big difference in the numbers of ppv buys.

      packy's fan base > money may's

      thats all...

I would agree that that's a good counter.

I was playing devil's advocate with what I originally stated, btw.

not to mention the 50K people that came to watch

vs the heaviest promoted fight in GBP history
yes, a statement that hes not a huge draw. b/c going from 1.25 to 700k buys in your very next fight, is horrible

Since we have been given one decimal Mosley vs Mayweathers EXPECTED selling number is between 1.40-1.49.
We are going by the latest expectation reported. That means from the numbers given (granted they are correct) there is a 80~% chance this fight sold more than Oscar vs Tito.

Now, the numbers could be wrong. All we got is an expected number.

At least TS had the balls to admit he was wrong.

Kinda wish he didn't though, would have been funny seeing someone trying to justify it.

Oscar-Trinidad did do 1.4 million as well, but the PPV price for Mayweather-Mosley was higher, so it generated more PPV revenue.

Like $77 million to $65 million or something like that.

He is the biggest draw in boxing. But i doubt he has the most amount of pure fans.

Its simple logic. A thing like this is hard to prove with numbers.
                    Selling power is tho.
Good post. Threads like this one come out of mixing your post instead of breaking it down like you did. People confuse a "ppv draw" with a "fighter's fanbase". Many times these are two very different things altogether.

Example, Tyson had both, a draw and fanbase. He was a knockout machine with no mercy and had fans who wanted to see that.

DLH was a nice guy with the ability to win via knockout power and speed. He had draw off his wins and fans off his persona.

Mayweather, I believe, has draw power off his "heel" money attitude. Hey, it works, right?!? I don't think he matches those numbers with people who are fans of his style. His pure boxing style is not fully respected. I don't necessarily agree with that, but that's how it is.
