Here is an inflation calculator anyway http://www.dollartimes.com/calculators/inflation.htm

You need 1.61 USD today to have the same buying power as 1 USD in 1991.

I think you might mean the live gate revenue.
Revenue of any kind you mean....

There are ways to adjust it, but they're all very small idiosyncrasies, like the recession and such that are almost just pointless.

PPV Buys are pretty standard, and easy to go by for all intents and purposes. To factor in population, % of homes with televisions, and other **** like that won't produce enough of a definitive answer to warrant figuring it out.

That is why you look at "buys" and not revenue to compare apples to apples. But for gate revenue, you would have to do the inflation indexing.

Movie receipts are always expressed in dollars (as opposed to units) so you must adjust.

          PPV buys are units.

THE MATH IS PRETTY SIMPLE, AND YOU CAN USE 2 PERCENT ANNUALY.
Damn *****s are smarter than we give them credit for.

          Your post is right.

Kind of like, Avatar is the highest grossing film of all time.. .but when you adjust the inflation percentages... it's not even in the top 10.

Anyone know how to do that?

yes......or u may actually be able to find a calculator online that has the relevant figures built into the calculation over time for any date range and time period entered.

But you are quite right. In inflation adjusted dollars gone with the wind is the highest grossing feature film of all time.

I mean the PPV revenue in comparison and not the buys.

              You guys are right.

              The revenue not the buys.
