Would a cut-off date in Random testing really matter?

Some say that there shouldn't be one at all in order for the random testing to work.

But my question is, can 16 to 18 days of no testing before competition really help you? Don't athletes who use performance enhancers generally have to use them early in training camp (Weeks 1 to 4 of Training Camp) for it to really take effect?

If Pacquiao were to get randomly tested for all but 16-18 days, that means that the majority of his training would have to be done NATURALLY, which are really the physical "Build-Up" stages of training. That's where you gain the most.

I watched a documentary on MTV the other day called "True Life" about Steroid/HGH users. And one segment was about a guy who was preparing to make his Pro-Debut in MMA. He used steroids to prepare himself during training camp, but stopped using 20 days before the fight to "clear out his system" as he put it. HE WON THE FIGHT. Whatever the MMA fighter gained from steroids was early on in training, not the last 20 days, as he used those to clear his system.

And i'm on Mayweather's side on this, just thought that a compromise isn't that bad and Pac would really have no chance of getting away with all the pressure and watchful-eyes on him. Hell he wouldn't even dare to inject himself, even if he did so before, too much risk.

So this poster says, let them have the cutoff date of what? 17 days, Roach said last time?

That's the muscle-building phase of the physical build-up.

For the cardio/EPO phase, what the illiterate Pacquiao could do is use his EPO as close to the fight as possible. That keeps his stamina up.

Yes, so he would have 16-18 days to use it with no random testing, BUT how does he then clear out his system? Does he then use a masking agent?

Seems too much risk in that little window of time, to do all that with all the eyes on Pacquiao, waiting for him to get caught. Don't you think?

                  ^^^This.

With Floyd's cut-off offer of 14 days. It's quite impossible to use the PEDs without being found out, if testing is still done after the fight as well.

No way to cycle them down and even the 'masking agents' are illegal to use as well. Example: Manny Ramirez.

so they do blood testing in mma now or just urine testing? if it's just urine why does that mma fighter have to clear his system? i thought urine testing is not effective...
