Avoided the Benn's and Eubanks and Collins's. When he finally met Joe Calzaghe, Joe punished him and showed Roy to be the fraud that he was.
Roy was more then past it when he fought Calzaghe, relied to much on his physical gifts and they were gone by the time they fought.

He'll be remembered as a great boxer.

He'll be remembered as an amazing fighter who stayed in the game a too long. If he had retired after he beat Ruiz, his record would be pretty much perfect.

Roy's prime ended as soon as he started facing better boxers. Dude beat a weight drained James Toney and won some boring match with Hopkins and made a career out of that crap. Wow, he beat a 58 year old Vinnie Paz.....good job Roy. A 49 year old Mike McCallum.....John Ruiz? Beating John Ruiz is not an accomplishment. When will people realize this. Pretty much every overyhyped fighter today hangs on some John Ruiz win. Haye, Roy, Tua etc...no one cares, dude is terrible.

Dude ran into a more gifted fighter in Joe Calzaghe and Joe embarassed him. Joe stole his career. RJJ is over, he's just one of the 45 victims of the Dragon. But he should be honored to have had his face beat in by a true great, Joe Calzaghe.

i think his resume at 175 gets overrated, but taking on toney hardly makes you think of a guy scared to fight. that and fighting 230 pound guys as a natural middleweight.
