    Predictions for this weekend?

Mitchell vs Katsidis, Ortiz vs Campbell and Khan vs Malignaggi all take place at the weekend.

I know a lot of people probably don't have much interest in the British fight, but for me it's the most interesting. Both have been involved in wars in the past, and although Mitchell will probably try to box, I don't think he'll be able to stick to that all night.

Even though Mitchell moves well and can box from the outside, I think he'll need to work on catching Katsidis on the way in as Casamayor did, because if he doesn't then Kats will probably come out on top in an inside fight.

It's hard to know how to judge the flaws Mitchell showed in the past because he took a year off, moved up in weight and changed trainers, and seems to have improved quite a bit because of it. Still, I think at least of part of the reason for that is the style of his opponents. Katsidis has more in common with Johannson (who gave Mitchell hell in their fight a couple of years ago) than with Prescott. Katsidis cuts off the ring a lot better than Prescott and I think he'll pin Mitchell against the ropes often enough to wear him down and stop him in the championship rounds.

At 38 years old and without a win in over a year, I think this will be the night that Campbell looks his age. He'll have to contend with a size, speed, strength and power disadvantage. Despite how bad quitting against Maidana made him look, Ortiz is still a very talented fighter, and I think he'll land more and more hard shots as it goes on, and then take over the fight late and score a KO.

I think Khan will take a wide UD against Malignaggi. I think GBP/Roach have chosen the perfect opponent for Khan. Maybe Paulie can time a left hook perfectly and drop him, as he did to N'Dou (who has a better chin than Khan) but I consider that to be pretty unlikely. Khan is a pretty skillful guy and I think that when he does get put down in the future, it'll be by a pressure fighter rather than a slickster/counter-puncher. Even though the gap between the two of them isn't that wide overall, I think Khan will outland Paulie by a fairly large margin.

I've got my boy Kat in a barnstormer against Mitchell.

Khan should decision Malignaggi, but i'd absolute love Paulie to obliterate Khan.....a stoppage would be icing on the cake, but i'm getting way ahead of myself.

Ortiz should beat Campbell, this is the year Ortiz really needs to prove he has the goods.

I think Katsidis and Ortiz are going to win.

Khan vs Malignaggi is a hard fight to call IMO

        • I got Amir beating Paulie in a spectacular fashion. I don't think he will stop Paulie but I definitely see Amir dominating him.
        • Ortiz better beat Campbell. He has the power and the speed to brutally knock Campbell out. I'm predicting Ortiz by brutal KO somewehere in the middle rounds.
        • I'm not really a guy who likes boxing brawls and slug-fights so I'm not as excited as you about the Katsidis-Mitchell fight. Katsidis only knows how to brawl so I think that Mitchell will be having a sort of similar gameplan like he had against Presctott. I hope Katsidis beats Mitchel but I think Mitchell will pull this off.

I have got illegal Sky Sports 1 and illegal ITV1 now so I wil be able to watch all these fights on my big television screen .

The really interesting tough competative fight is Mitchell Katsidis. If you take the hype out of the fights that is the most interesting fight. Katsidis is a lot better than people think and his pressure fighting methods are going to cause Mitchell a box fighter real problems. Mitchell has a good chin and is going to need it. I have watched him improve under Jimmy Tibbs at my boxing gym from time to time and he has got a lot better. I can't make my mind up on who the winner will be. It is too close to call a 50 50 fight. I am surprised Warren made the fight. I think Mitchell might just edge it on a cuts win or a decision. But mitchell should be given a lot of credit for having the guts to take on Katsidis whatever happens. There is a post that says Khan's fight is make or break but to me this is the make or break fight for Mitchell. A win will elevate him to being percieved on the same level as the top UK fighters.
I feel Khan will win either by a late round TKO or on points. I don't feel malignaggi has the punch resistance he had when he fought Cotto and does not have the firepower to keep Khan at bay.
Ortiz SHOULD beat Campbell and KO him. But I don't feel mentally he has fully recovered from the Maidana loss so there is a chance of an upset.

Mitchell v Katsidis I am really excited about. If I had to bet on a fight being having potential as a FOTY candidate, then it would be that one. I reckon Mitchell will do it but my gut feeling is that he is going to go to hell and back along the way. Mitchell by late stoppage.

I think Khan is going to shine against Malignaggi. Malignaggi's best asset is his speed, but Khan is a lot quicker. Khan has also had a decent amount of time getting used to working with Freddie Roach and he is looking better all the time. Khan UD.

Ortiz v Campbell is harder to call imo. Ortiz should win as he is younger, faster and hits harder than Nate. There are some nagging doubts about his appetite that wont go away until he can put a string of good results together. Overcoming a gutcheck could help with that, and thats precisely what an on form Campbell could give him. If Nate is well prepared physically and mentally for this, then he could well make Ortiz start to have doubts again. Guessing here, but Ortiz before 8.
