Comments Thread For: Over Before it Begins: Williams wins, Cintron hurt, Fans lose

By Jake Donovan - “The Weight Is Over” was the theme selected for HBO’s televised card from the Home Depot Center in Carson, California, but the wait lingers on for frustrated junior middleweights Paul Williams and Kermit Cintron.

Two of boxing’s most unwanted agreed to meet each other on Saturday night after little interest was expressed by anyone else in the industry. Fireworks were expected, but the fuse never had a chance to be lit.

A freak injury forced Cintron to quit early into the fourth round, forcing the bout to go to the scorecards, where Williams was deemed a technical split decision winner in their junior middleweight non-title bout. [Click Here To Read More]

It was just 3 1/2 rounds. Nobody won in that situation. However, I scored it 38-38. Cintron took the first two rounds and Williams took the last two (well 1 1/2).

Terrible fight, thank god it ended early. Both of them can move on and get some paydays before calling it a day.

I agree Cinton is 2 injury prone or just has absolute bad luck, at first I was wondering how the hell he got that momentum going and it seemed like he flew out of the ring. I don't know how he ended up on the floor when he was on the table being assisted by the secruity guys wearing suits. I thought Paul was and I thought he won the last two rounds.

Man I hear you my man, I can't help but feel if it were Paul or anybody else they would have found a way to make it back in the ring. If you are hurt don't play dead then act like you want to fight, I think he thought he was going to win going out on the stretcher
