Maskiev was knocked out by Goofi Whittaker, Kirk Johnson, and 300lb Corey (not Corrie) Sanders. Since then he hasn't beaten anyone with a pulse.

He is NOT on the same level as Rahman, Barrett or Peter. Any of those guys would be a better fight than Maskiev.

If this fight comes off, Vitali's last 3 opponents will have been Corrie Sanders, Danny Williams, and Oleg Maskiev.

Being an undefeated prospect is better than getting KO'd by 3 fringe contenders. Maskiev's wins since his KO losses don't include ANY wins over top 20 opponents.
