how long did braddock have the title?
how many successful defenses did he make?
      Yes, you're right!

      But he's a people's champ...

He won the hearts like no other and that's a HOF accomplishment:-)

There is a difference between being a peoples champ and having a large fan base.

I'm sorry, last thing I remember, Golota quit how many times... sorry I lost count.

BTW, my memory is kinda hazy, when was Golota a champ?

My point is Golota is not a legend, Braddock is.

golota quit twice: against michael grant and against tyson.

            golota was never a champ.

golota is not a legend either.

that aside, can u answer my question about braddock's credentials?

Not all legends have 5 years championship behind them, not all have 10 title defences...

What can I tell you... Go see Cinderella Man LOL

i saw it the day it came out. i give it a 9/10. pretty good. still, winning the title and causing an upset isnt HOF worthy. if it is, does that mean Buster Douglas, Leon Spinks, and Hasim Rahman should be in the HOF too?

I'm not going to argue Braddock's hall of fame worth because I think he's a very borderline member of that exclusive group, but he did have a couple of very impressive wins just before defeating Baer...At the time of his fight and subsequent loss to Braddock, Art Lasky was ranked as one of the top three heavyweights in the world, so you could certainly count him as one of the "quality heavyweights" of the day. And when he lost to Braddock, John Henry Lewis was ranked as the number one light heavyweight contender in the world by The Ring (not much on Braddock's heavyweight resume beyond Baer and Lasky, but you could find some high quality wins on his light heavyweight ledger...Lewis, Griffith, Slattery, etc., were all ranked VERY high in the 175 lbs class when Braddock beat them).

But anyways, I'm more interested in hearing the case against Mike Gibbons being included in the IBHOF, which was the thread starter's opinion that he shouldn't be.
