What do you all make of that?

I never saw any of the Norton fights or the Spinx fight.
norton fights were all close. all 3 could have gone either way tbh.

leon spinks was an olympic gold medalist.

who cares really? he fought spinks right after he fought earnie shavers and ken norton and right before he fought larry holmes.

    give me a break.

would anyone give a **** if floyd was fighting some unknown olympian as a tuneup if he had just fought cotto and mosley and was about to fight pwill?

[QUOTE=Bright-Eyes;8282897][QUOTE=trk;8282835]Why? Because he is a heavyweight?

No,because he beat every worthy contender of his era....something Mayweather has failed to do.
So after Pacquaio, who else is left for Floyd in your opinion?

Who has Mayweather avoided that you think would have a chance at beating him?

The top guys at 130 were Genaro Hernandez and Diego Corrales. Floyd destroyed them both.

The top guy at 135 was Castillo. Since the first fight ended in a close/controversial decision, Floyd gave him an immediate rematch and beat him more convincingly in the second fight.

At 140, Hatton was the clear-cut top guy in the division (after he beat Tszyu and Tszyu retired), with Gatti and Cotto being the next most prominent names. None of them wanted to fight Floyd. He had to become Gatti's mandatory to get a title shot, and he proceeded to absolutely massacre Gatti. He couldn't get a fight worked out with Hatton while he was still at 140, but eventually he did fight Hatton and KOed him.

When Floyd moved up to 147, Zab Judah was the top guy in the division. After arranging a fight with Floyd, Zab unexpectedly lost to Baldomir. Floyd went out and convincingly beat them both. After moving up to fight the much larger Oscar De La Hoya in a big money fight, he finally settled the score with Hatton and decided it was time to take a break.

When Floyd made his come back, the top-ranked welterweights were Shane Mosley and Manny Pacquiao. Floyd beat Mosley convincingly and it looks like he may soon be fighting Pacquiao.

When it comes to competition faced, I think Mayweather is doing pretty well. Of course, no one who fights his way up through multiple weight classes can possibly fight all potential opponents. Names Mayweather missed include Freitas, Casamayor, Stevie Johnson, Spadafora, Cotto, and Margarito. However: Freitas lost to Corrales; Casamayor lost to Freitas, won against but also lost to Corrales, and lost to Castillo; Stevie Johnson got a loss and a draw to Castillo; Paul Spadafora is still unbeaten, but only because he has never, ever, faced an elite opponent; Cotto was stopped by Margarito and convincingly beaten by Mayweather's likely next opponent Pacquiao; Margarito was destroyed by Mosley. The opponents Mayweather has fought (assuming he fights Pacquiao) are clearly better than the opponents he hasn't fought.
