SRL got hit a lot by the slow plodding Ayub Kalule so you cant say Floyd would have gotten as hit as often Ray did against Hearns.
No way does Ayub Kalule who was slow as heck even touch Floyd. Ray was getting nailed with unecessary shots. Lucky Kalule had no power.

I just think Floyd is much better than SRL and would have been to strong over the long fight than a weight drained 144 pound Hearns. Remember SRL didnt fight the 154 Hearns that Duran fought. He fought Hearns at 144 pounds.Comment

Nah... Ray was the more complete fighter... because, you know, he could actually punch. REALLY punch. And I think he was just as fast at 147 as Floyd is now, probably faster.I think Floyd's a more complete fighter than SRL. Not just speed and flashy combinations. Floyd is a more complete technical fighter and would not have gotten nailed by Hearns as much as Ray did because of his defense. Floyd can fight Hearns close range and still not get hit. Keep both hands up high, block and just tapping Hearns with body shots, straight right hands. Slowly break him down without getting careless
Outboxing a guy that's got such a great jab as Hearns had, who was also incredibly rangy, is NOT an easy task. Hearns, as stated before, was a freak. All that range, speed, and INCREDIBLE power in the right hand. Ray really had a MONSTER chin, people seem to forget that. That's the reason he won... Hearns was a bigger hitter, but the chin versus the power made Ray the bigger puncher in the fight.Comment
