I wont be too quick to judge him. He was boxing real well was landing good punches. Its just a fight of elites 1 mistake and the fight is over.

he boxed well for as long as the fight went. he just got caught by a quick, powerful left hooker.
cant stress how powerful montiel's left hook is.
like is said, p4p, its one of the best.

dude gets so much leverage with his short ass arms.

donaire has power in both hands, has awesome timing on counters and is harder to hit than hozumi.

i'd hate to underrate montiel yet again...
stylistically, i think it'd be a pretty boring fight. i'd rather see montiel take on the perez/mares winner.
i do not think a fight with donaire is on the future. if it was ill have to go with the most proven fighter which is montiel
donaire would have to move up and he just got to 115
being real montiel will defend against mandatories now and the next superfight could be against vic but he has to get past donaire first

donaire wouldnt have to move anywhere. he's BEEN having trouble making 115. there really is no reason for him to stay at 115.

vic/montiel would be a blowout in montiel's favor.
mares/perez winner would still be a much better match stylistically. donaire/montiel would be a pose/feint fest with both guys trying to counter.

montiel is not one to pose or feint all fight, i think he knew he didnt went to japan to earn a decision, thats why he never got a rhithym going or tried to use the jab like hes done against his mandatories
imo donaire its not all that hes been troubled by the south african guy and concepcion judging by that i would go montiel by ko on a body punch
i think vic is a very hard matchup, mexicans tend to get koed against him because of his akward style and how he is always throwing those wild haymakers, forcing them to brawl against him

montiel's a versatile fighter but he is mainly a counter puncher.
donaire is almost strictly a counter puncher.
i think the action would be rather boring with both guys not taking the lead, while both being quick enough to retreat from advances.

dont fool yourself about vic. montiel would counter him just as easily as nonito did...and i think montiel punches harder than donaire.

its just that montiel got massively underrated
if he didnt know he could win he woulda never go to japan it was his idea to have this fight
i guess a fight with vic vs donaire winner is next, but it would have to be at 118 cuz montiel cant make the superfly limit
anyway montiel deserves p4p recognition hes a 3 division champion and now a unified champion
my question is does fernando have what it takes to be Mexico's first 4 division champion?

can he make a jump to super batam or he will be to small?

FWIW, montiel is bigger than poonsawat.

well the first would be arce if he wins against morel on his quest for the 118 title

despite the size disadvantage montiel could easily defeat anselmo moreno who is a nothing special fighter and got a gift in his last fight
he would also beat molitor with his questionable chin
nishioka is too dangerous, vazquez is a ? mark and caballero should move up in the next months to fight gamboa or rojas
