Wow. That came out of no where.

Most passionate fans? Back in the day, Ali fans. Freakin' whole world was behind Mohammed Ali.

Today? I dunno...there are about 90 million Filipinos and they have one fighter to cheer for. Pacquiao.

Mexicans are divided among their many fighters.

Tito is gone so the Puerto Ricans are now behind Cotto.

    Hatton has his British fans.

But figthers trancend borders. So if I was to go with pure boxing fans who mostly favor one fighter, without regard of his nationality, it would have to be Hatton or Morales.

i'd have to say the mexicans and british. i always thought the british fans came a far second from the mexicans when it comes to energy...but seeing that hatton fight...they were literaly shaking manchester...it was awesome.

God help Tszyu if he won. Coz that crowd would have killed him. Anyone recall the Hagler/Minter fight?

Passionate as in what sense? When Kostya Tszyu beat Julio Cesar Chavez, people nearly wrecked the stadium down in anger that he lost. It's like they wanted to see him die before he lost. Then they began throwing stuff into the ring.
PR's, as one myself although love many different boxers, can understand that once we lose someone, we gotta find a new one fast. With Tito gone, Cotto is looking very bright and it's his time to shine now.
Filipinos are quite the passionate people as I know many and they are very hospitable. They back their man Manny up 100% and still love him after his courageous loss to Morales. I'm sure he'll be back and his horde of fans(including me), will be there to watch him in action.
As far as the British people go, they seem to enjoy the atomsphere more than we do as was shown with Hatton. Those people owned that stadium with their chants and cheers for Hatton. I don't think there is any other people like them for showing esthusiam that make us people in the US seem boring during a fight as we just sit and cheer when theres an exchange more than 5 seconds long . Cmon guys, we gotta start singing we will rock you or something!

You're right I must have been imagining that Britian was less than a year from being fully taken oveR by Germans.. At least you guys tried to fight, unlike the pansy French who put up little resistance..
