imo the only reason they stuck in the pass is b/c they fought alot. Now a days the promoters are trying to make the money so they have to take time to make sure the people know about it. Back then most people listened to the fight or had to read about it. Plus it's a generation thing.Comment

What are you talking about willis? Romes main reason why Ali was better than Floyd was simply opposition. So, his argument is that Floyd isn't better because the athletes now are not as good as back in the day and I think that is a bull **** reason. You can't knock the guy because the talent around him isn't as good, and what makes everyone an expert to think Floyd couldn't hang with the welters in the 80s. It's just an assumption and I just find it weak if that's the best he can come up with. Ali is greater,but the argument of opposition isn't a great one imo.Comment

floyd has every ****ing right to say he's better than any fighter of the past, i don't give a **** who it is-----he's not in the sport to say anybody's better than him, past or present---i don't give a damn who likes it on here or not---i don't care who in the media likes it or not---this is floyd's era---this is floyd's time to shine---not ali's, not srr's----ali called himself the greatest didn't he? it was his time---floyd has every right to proclaim himself the greatest fighter ever---and whoever hates his comments, oh ****ing well, they hate everything about him anyway----so he really can't say anything that they will like----so, jim rome can ask his questions and floyd can answer them anyway he likes---those past fighters are held up so high, it's like the present fighters are in a no win situation---they don't fight once every other month, or once a month like old school fighters---they don't fight 15 rounds---the sport has evolved with ppv, and tv--it's not just radio anymore----floyd needs to focus on floyd, not ali or srr being greater than him----there's no way in hell i'll say any fighter's better than me when i'm in a very dangerous sport, busting my ass to get to where i am, floyd's no different---it's all subjective anyway----different people have different lists compiled of the greatest fighters ever---just because bert sugar is a boxing historian, doesn't make his list the right list---or emannuel steward or damn sure not larry merchant-----fans have every right to call any fighter the greatest that they feel is truly the greatest---floyd doesn't have the fighters ali had in his era---or srl had in his era---or srr had in his era----he has new type of fighters---his era's fighters---and he wants to fight manny, he's fighting shane, he wanted to fight winky wright, and hatton when hatton was ring champ back in 05 at 140---i mean it's a new age of boxing, and floyd can call himself greater than anybody---it's his right----the ts of course will say jim rome tore floyd a new ass-----when indeed he did no such thing---but the ts hates floyd, so even if floyd tore jim a new ass, the ts won't admit it anyway----suck **** the ts----Comment

I always say the same thing and people are so vain that they act like they dont get it. Its bad enough that old guys act like all there stuff is better but our generation falls for that **** too. Im not saying Floyd is the greatest ever but stop overrating the past guys and underrating the present. The **** aint fair. These are great fighters and Floyd would more than hold his own in any generation. Floyd, RJ, Hopkins, Toney, Pac, etc can fight in any era. Fans are just too ****** to realize that. Then when one guy says he's the best then everyone gets upset. Why? Whats wrong with that? He's undefeated and P4P #1 but he better not say he can beat so & so?
