In 2005, when Calzaghe fought Ashira (a tune up), lets see what Froch was doing... Oh, wow.. He was the commonwealth champion and fighting bums.
And Manfredo was loosing to Welterweights

Evans Ashira was ranked around 300 at light middle.

The bums Froch was fighting >>>>>> Manfredo and Ashira. FACT.
Joe didnt fancy a competitive fight.

      And Froch's?

Pascal who? Great fight to watch, but even as a LHW champ, he's not elite or even great.

His win VS Taylor who won nearly all of the rounds until the 12th,

Who also lost by KO I think 3 fights before against Pavlik, lost again 9And Pavlik got schooled twice since), won vs lacy (Rotator cuff ****ed up and he's done), Then Taylor got KTFO against AA who lost every round VS Dirrell.

OK so Taylor isn't really a good win sicne he also was more of a MW fighter.

Then Dirrell. His win was seen as a lost by very many. Home town ref didn't deduct points his rabbit punches, yet dirrell for his ducking.

      He even through Dirrell down.

Calzaghe beat a guy who beat Froch.

Woodhall, prime reid, sheika, bika, lacy, byron mitchell, brewer, eubank> any bum froch fought.

at 175, hopkins beats taylor and so does roy jones at the time. they also beat pascal too.

not now though, been too long. Roy is shot and hopkins had too long a lay off for his age.

anyway, kessler was beaten by joe, and kessler beat froch.

          Calzaghe would of overwhelmed Froch.

Calzaghe beat the best version of Kessler imo.

Since then, Kessler has slowed down abit imo. He seems slower, less accurate and is overall more sluggish. His 1-2 combo to the head isn't there anymore either.

calzaghe was a legitimately great fighter, great to watch, hard to beat. Is he in the league of a prime bernard or jones? Absolutely not, but I think he wouldv competed with both guys...when calzaghe fought hopkins, b-hop was still a great fighter, still in the p4p rankings, and had great and dominant performances before and after the calzaghe fight. Yes calzaghe had some very dubious title defences but when a guy has 20 there are gonna be some soft ones in there. Fact is he was the king of a division when it was weak, but woodhall, brewer, reid, eubank, mitchell, were all former champs and solid wins. Ottke should have happened, but lets face it we all know what would have happened...ottke got gift decisions over reid, and mitchell, if calzaghe didn't go over there and stop him he might have lost.

When there finally were 2 champions that the public clamoured for unification fights (lacy, and kessler) calzaghe took them on and won in dominant fashion, probably past his best (long term hand and back injuries). Froch wouldn't have gotten anywhere near this guy, to be honest if they fought this year even call me crazy but with a solid training camp under him I would still expect calzaghe to win

People have different opinions of JC, but no one exposed him. If no one exposed him, it must have been because he was very good. If you downgrade him, even though no one beat him, you must be a bit of a hater.

I think Froch is better than Lacy was but still it is hard to imagine Joe Cal not out boxing him too.

Don't think that Calzaghe was prime against Hopkins. Calzaghe actually hit dangerously hard when his hands weren't destroyed. Ask Eubank about it. Calzaghe was a monster.
