I can not honestly speak on the entire history of the sport, because I do not know the entire history of the sport of boxing. However, compared to the fighters who we consider ATG's (past,present, and future)

Nowadays, no one cares about technical fighters. Most people would rather watch Kimbo Slice than watching Floyd, Marquez, ect..

I agree with this post. I was watching Marquez-Diaz and Marquez-Mayweather last night.

Mayweather and Marquez are two of the more technical fighters I've ever seen. Marquez would be a better fighter if he didn't get caught up in the "I'm a Mexican so I must go to war or I let my nation down" mentality.

It was really a joy to watch Mayweather and Marquez set traps for each other and just fight an all around technical fight. With that said, Mayweather totally destroyed Marquez in every way possible.

If Marquez is supposed to be at least equal to Pacquiao (and in some ways better) then I doubt we'll ever see Mayweather vs. Pacquiao.

every boxing fan appreciate the so called sweet science imo but they also love to see a ko. it's a male thing i think, machismo...everybody loves a warrior. boxing fans love to see a display of boxing skills but at the same time they hate it when fighters are devoid of the warrior mentality. that's why people loved leonard because he has both. he made duran quit. he beat hagler with his superior skills but he also mixed it up with him. he was not afraid to get hit.
