Cuauhtemoc's take on Angulo and Arreola

OK so I watched the fights this weekend like I always do and saw a couple of things about Angulo and Arreola since they were the attraction that night.

    Angulo Stregths:

    - I love the way this guy pressures and is patient. He usually gets out boxed in the early rounds and then wears his opponent down. He doesn't panic and stalks his opponent relentlessly.

    - He doesn't over extend himself. Those of you who are trainers will understand this. He doesn't have speed but he never reaches and leaves himself wide open. Very disciplined fighter.

    - He's a better boxer than people give him credit for. He's a former Mexican Olympian and has nice boxing skills, not great but very good in his fundamentals.

    - He hits hard. His punches are "thumping" punches, punishing punches.

    Angulo weakness:

    - He's slow. There's really no other way to put it, he doesn't have great speed in foot or hand and that would make you think he would have great problems with someone like Martinez or Williams.

    - He has almost no head movement. Speed is something you can compensate for if you have good timing and good head movement, he seems to like to stand in front of his opponent way too much.

All in all though, he's a tough fighter, I know there's a comparison to Margarito but I think he's a better boxer than Marg and is still very young and inexperienced. He can go far and be an exciting fighter in the sport.

    Arreola:

What can you say about this guy other than, if he refuses to take the sport seriously, he will never achieve his dream. When he pressured Adamek and physically pushed him around, he was winning the fight easily. What prevented him from doing this for 12 rounds was his conditioning.

He could have knocked Adamek out if he would have pressured him but he took 3 rounds off at a time, sad....

I love Arreola's heart and toughness but unless he stops the drinking (which he admitted he does) and stops the eating and really dedicates himself and get's into serious shape, he will never beat the elites in the sport.

So true. I agree with what you said. Specially on Arreola.

Que onda compa? Angulo is and will always be an exciting fighter, I was kinda let down with that whole "Diva" action of not showing on press conferences or coming in late, he might have had his reasons and be pissed at the fact he was not hyped more about that fight but let's be real here, as good and exciting and fan friendly El Perro is...he is not at that level to be acting that way and even if he was it's still unprofessional to throw a tantrum like that, I found that very weird since Perro has always been more than professional and respectful in the past.

But anyway as far as your observation goes I agree with pretty much everything. I think a fighter that can stick and move will always give Angulo problems, especially early in the fight, let's just hope for Perro's sake that if he continues to fight those kind of fighters he's able to do enough work and impose his strength in order to break his opponent down and go for the kill like he did against Julio but something he wasn't able to do with Cintron, I think the flu rumors were actually true even though I hate to say it but Cintron is above in terms of skills compared to Julio at this point of his career so it was a more difficult fight for el Perro.

As far as being more skilled than Tony...hmmm I used to think that before the Cintron loss but I think Tony is a more disciplined fighter and actually cuts the ring better and is a more body attack savage than Agulo is, he barely connected on Julios body early, he was mostly head hunting, you know Tony wouldn't of fought that way. Angulo is not getting any younger either but I hope they work on his footwork a little bit more as well as moving the head or at least to try and teach him to roll punches better if he's not going to get better defensively, he just eats them, Tony at the very least has a much better defense than Angulo, he parries punches and rolls them much more effectively even though he gets hit a lot also.

Arreola will always be Arreola, can't change that beast, he had a lot of heart and if those hand injuries were real and not exaggerated he put in a lot of effort and heart to get his man but Adamek was just superb in my opinion, he moved well, punched well, fast hands and good stamina and resilience, he had a well deserved win.

dont be that really wasn't on him moreso than GSP as Perro does whatever Gary tells him to do.

Perro is one of the most humble dudes in boxing period and a good person. He is also one of the more fan friendly guys in the sport often staying for hours after a fight to sign autographs, take pictures etc

Gary was the first one to complain about the promotion of the fight not Perro I honestly think he doesn't care about all that ****

the thing I noticed and respect about Perro the most is how well he controlled the middle of the ring and would not let Julio get back into the middle. Julio's back faced the ropes all fight and Perro's never really did

                arreola needs to lose weight.

take off 15-20 lbs and he would have gotten to adamek more often.

he would have won last night.

i don't know how these pro athletes can be so overweight.

they don't do anything but train.

it's not like they have a 9-5 job or anything that prevents them from going to the gym or go run.

i know he likes to eat but homie ain't exactly gonna starve if he's only 235 lbs.

I figured that to be the case, I've read and heard how humble and professional Perro is so it took me by surprise when I read all of that crap. Thanx for clearing it out as usual Eanie
