What was your first experience with boxing?

Mine was when i was about 10 years old.

i snuck into a local boxing match with my brother who was old enough to go.

it was put on by the local casino and it was a bucnh of club fighters

i forget the names but the main event was a pretty good one.

each fighter went down like 2 or 3 times each in 7 rounds and finally one of them one by TKO.

i have been hooked ever since

Edit: in hindsight maybe i was closer to 13 or 14....hell i dont know it was BITD

I think I was like 8 or something...

Went to a gym with my cousin, just hanging out there because my uncle was a trainer there or something. We didn't do much, we just hit each other a little and some of the older dudes let us hit them.

After that I never went back to a boxing gym.

          LOL.

It didn't really interest me until I started watching when I was like 12 or something.

            nice thread...
first experience was when I saw a tape of my dad fighting Julian Jackson for the WBC title..back in the 80s..
but the the impact came when I was 9 or 10 years old..my dad took me to a fight night charity event with him..I met RJJ/Foreman/SRL/Ronnie Shields/Frazier..all in one night..though I knew who they were..I wasnt a die hard fan..and I researched them via tapes my dad had..and then I became a huge RJJ fan in the 90s along with Pea.

I knew about boxing since I was [single-digit] years old. Just never interested in it.

My first taste of boxing was beating my friend in a spar who boxed, with my martial arts. Then the second time we sparred, I got my ass whooped. So, easy enough, I dropped TKD and started flip flopping martial arts. (we sparred with no gloves or protection.)

Then crazy enough, Bernard Hopkins would teach me how to throw a proper punch and a hook but I still wasn't a boxing fan. (which is why I always show love for B-Hop.)

I didn't become a boxing fan until I watched Marciano ktfo Walcott. Which led to me going through archives of boxing and the rest is history.
