damn if that was excellent, then Oscar , Zab and mayweather are godOriginally posted by oldgringoYes his footwork was excellent...he moved very well side to side to throw the pressure fighter off and away from Abbies right hand. He used his feet well to manipulate Abbie for bodyshots as well and reset well after throwing combinations. All signs of excellent footwork...and he kept it up for 8 1/2 rounds. Did you not see this or what?Comment

It was extremely good for a young fighter who's facing an in-your-face pressure guy who is very tough and can take a good punch. Oscars footwork has never been anything special IMO but it was pretty good against Trinidad.Comment

I think he looked bigger than his last fight.
His footwork was great side to side, move and reset and lunge every once in a while with the left hook or stiff jab and stop and jab.
Can I point out all these things are natural to me that is why I notice them without ever stepping a foot in a gym.
Cotto has a lot of talent but he is not as strong as I thought, he can still get by with his great conditioning.
In the early rounds of this fight when he was getting caught with the right he seems a bit troubled, but he showed he has a strong mentality and fought threw it.Comment

His footworks is getting better with each outing. Just a year and a half ago Cotto didn't move that well. He had good lateral movement and moved side to side well but didn't do anything with it offensively. He was slighly sluggish and flat footed and didn't get any lift after moving laterally. He had to start his offense go forward or fully stopping.
He impress me more each time. He should be patient and wait another year to develop and figure out what style he wants to stick with. He has a very good overall package and could change his style accordingly to any type of fighter though, but that takes a lot of prep work and scouting.Comment
