I just wish he would fight more. He's fighting at a Tarver clip.

He's a local favorite of mine and it'd be nice if he fought more than twice a year. I don't know why he could have fought in say February or March.
He was lined up to fight Pascal and I guess he didn't want to risk that position. Pascal had a serious shoulder injury so thats why it's been so long.

No because Floyd's total title runs are in different weight divisions.

Dawson's are only in one weight-division. So either it's a continuation after he defeated Adamek, and he has 6 defenses in total.

Or it's two seperate title runs, one with 3 defenses and the other with 1 defense. It can't be 4 total.

Either you view it as him having had two seperate title-reigns, even though he didn't lose.

Or you view it as one SINGLE title reign and you add up all his title fights. Now if you add them up, it equals to 6 title defenses. It can't be 4.

          I can't believe people don't see this.
It is two separate reigns. It is not like he was the lineal champ... He was a two time title holder with four overall title defenses....

It's 2 title runs really, its like saying Cotto had 11 title defenses because he went unbeated even though he moved up in weight.

I say we are a little too nit picky. Yeah he won titles at different times but he has been the clear header of the division. I say his reign as champion is continuous.

Its two title reigns, 4 total defenses. How can you count the first Tarver fight a defense when he didnt have the title, same with the second Johnson fight.

Alright so if it's two seperate reigns than his new title run is currently at what number?

I'm asking this in terms of a Hopkins-esque or Calzaghe-esque Title defense record. Theirs were simple, B-hop won the IBF and kept the IBF without vacating througout the years, until Unification. Joe won the WBO and kept it all the way to Unification.

With Dawson it's different, is he currently at 0 title defenses because of the titles he vacated?

I don't consider him a champ right now since he only has the interim belt. Pascal is the champ. If he beats Pascal, he'll be a 3 time belt holder with no current defenses of his WBC belt.
