Comments Thread For: Amir Khan on Fighting Maidana, Bradley: Leaving The UK

Amir Khan’s decision to fight Paulie Malignaggi in the first of what he hopes will be many US showcase fights was met with derision in certain quarters, many asked why Khan had opted to defend his WBA title against ‘Magic Man’ rather than the tough Argentine interim champion Rene Marco Maidana, who stepped aside in order to allow the Malignaggi scrap to go ahead, with Rene now taking on Timothy Bradley for the WBO title in July. Bradley, too, was seen as a viable first option for Khan by many boxing fans; Amir, however, is using his May 15th appearance at Madison Square Garden as a reconnaissance mission, a chance to test these new waters against a name foe.

Khan makes some good points especially about taking on Paulie instead of Maidana i mean people forget that sugar ray leonard wanted none of tommy hearns until tommy built up his name. The sport is now a business and its not just the fights that have to make sense its the money

If what khan says about bein faster than bradley an all is true, then after paulie watch out for who khan fights cos I think its either alexander, bradley or maidana definetly. Besides the best fighter from the 3 is alexander because he aint been on the canvas yet.

Khan's next four opponents are likely to be -

          Mallignaggi

          Ortiz - Campbell winner

Bradley - He will destroy Maidana

          and Alexander

You just can't hate on that.

It is just a money issue for him? Then he goes into the triangle theory why he would beat Maidana but still won't fight him. To early for his career to be so occupied with building money fights. Khan should go and read the Sergio Martinez interview and read how a real fighter talks when it comes to taking challenges

Martinez is 35. Khan is 23. Martinez has a good chin, Khan doesn't. Thus it's easy for Martinez to chase the big and dangerous fighters. He has nowhere else to go.

Khan is still young and is in a stage of development with Freddie Roach. Mallignaggi is a good introductory fight for Khan in the United States. If you can't accept that then you are a hater.

Cause he don't agree with his personal view he's a hater? I only care about his boxing ability and who he fights. Not fighting top fighters cause he won't get paid as much as he think he should get is BS for me. Don't care how much he makes, just care about watching a competitive fight. Yup and you said it he is still young so he can't be talking that he has all these options cause he hasn't beaten anybody from the top. BTW I will be at the Garden to watch him cause I'm a boxing fan first.

Keep on hearing that he is next best thing and I want to see for myself. If he beats Paulie the next opponent they choose to fight will be critical and will really say if just going to scam the fans or he is the real thing.

i cant stand Khan but i'll bet he batters Maidana something silly. too quick, slick and cute for Maidana. Could be wrong but he has just too much for Maidana....however, if he gets tagged its lights out, just think hes too fast and wry to go into another Prescott war as he will lose.
Khan to make Maidana looks terrible just like he will 1 handed Paulie...
