Floyd Mayweather Jr. is setting a new tone in Boxing. No more BS sanctioning belt or its fees or its corrupt organizations, also no more minimal drug testing for superfights. Good for Floyd.

true statement..who cares about the WBA title...lol..only up and comers fight for belts. Really they dont want the belt because then they have to pay sanctioning fee's and have mandatory title defenses. Floyd has already won the WBC belt in 5 different weight classes. In 50 years nobody will care if they fought for the WBA title, people will only care about who won.

Floyd only cares for the WBC and thats why they are ponying up the diamond belt for him...Comment

you must of been drunk this morning when u posted that. He's facing Mosley so he doesnt lose face????? lmao @ you pacfart!Comment

Yea hopefully a lot of good young fighters follow his lead and retire in their primes so they can avoid the toughest opponents and then comeback purely for money. Floyd's a real hero. WOW HOW ****ING DUMB ARE YOU.Comment

Baldomir never paid the sanctioning fee for the WBA and since he only paid it for the WBC, after the Judah fight, the only Alphabet Baldomir had was the WBC.
exactly, mind ****ing the public is the way to go. Mass confusion ftw.Maybe he should just do what Pac does. Win the belt, tie it up for a year or more without defending it, refuse to vacate it, bull**** everyone into thinking that you might actually defend it someday, never actually defend it, and ultimately give it up anyways. Yeah, thats much better.........
well in the same regard you could argue that having 4 alphabet belts (WBA, WBC, WBO and IBF) is also pretty ******.So much for his reasoning for OST. The whole purpose ( or so he claimed ) was because it would be better for boxing period. By not fighting for the belt it makes a total mockery of the sport and makes it seem solely on $$$. Don't get me wrong it's prizefighting, but to make a fight at this magnitude and not make it a title fight is just absurd. Plain ******.
I can see both sides of being for/against Floyd not fighting for the title because at this point a title belt doesn't exactly make or break Floyd
but in regards to the bigger picture Boxing has 3 other Alphabets .. will Mayweather not paying this sanctioning fee make that big of a difference?
**on another note, any chance Golden Boy Promotions steps in and pays the fee for Floyd? cuz didn't Miguel Cotto threaten to not pay his sanctioning fee, and I believe Bob Arum was the one who paid the fee for Cotto.Comment

I thought the diamond belt was for catchweight only fights. or will the WBC try to step in and make up some kind of belt for the Mosley-Mayweather fight (much like they did with Cotto-Pacquiao)Comment

you are absolutely right, it is for only catch weights. I guess the WBC is gonna offer it to the winner just like they did with PackyComment
