This is good to hear from Floyd. It's the men behind the belts that matter most. The belts themselves are worthless if good fighters don't have them.

Mayweather had no interest in the title. When asked as to why, Mayweather didn't mention the sanctioning fee. [Click Here To Read More]
Personally I think he should just cut the **** and fight for the belt, idc if he's already held a belt in this division and the next, it's still a belt and you should be fighting for it if youre on top... I'd like to see him fight at 154 after this fight with Shane if Pacquiao wont step up to the plate, win some more at 154 and maybe make a run at a middleweight title!

I don't blame him. The money paid to the WBC would probably pay for a new home for most of us. He already has the fame, now its about the fortune.

the reason money doesn't want to fight for a belt is for the following reasons.
                1. the sactioning fees. Why pay more money out of your purse for sanctioning fees if there a tons of alphabet belts out there. Why would he pay an extra million on a belt that is really insignificant in this day and age. Everyone has a belt and interim belt, i think its good that he keeps all his dough, you have to be a fool to let another company take more food from his plate
                2. the mandatory title defense. If he does win this fight and become champion then the belt organization will set him up with title defense challengers. Money doesn't want anybody dictating his next opponent and then having to pay more fees for the title defenses, thus no belt no demand.

People need to realize maybe next to horse racing, boxing is the second biggest Elitist sport... Im not saying it grosses the most money by any means ...... In boxing just like in horse racing it"s 50% skill , 25 % showmanship and 25% pageantry.... Boxing is a poor mans sport... Nevertheless it's a rich men past time... Harping back to the days of the Roman Empire elite and Gladiators... Everybody is in the sport to make money.... Floyd knows this.... The ppl who pay to sent ring side... Don't give a s#it what abc belt your fighting for.... At this level they only wanna see you do that dance, they paid you to do ...... People are on here saying Floyds killing boxing how ??? Doing something that's been around from the first day of boxing , trying to get paid.... Boxing will always be money first... So why is it wrong??? That he is doing what a lot boxers should have done... Say im risking my life, so fck you pay me.....

That seems reasonable, I wouldn't pay the sanctioning fee either if I were in the same position.

Cotto will fight for it if it's vacant.
