    Exactly, it's just the IMAGE.

Numerous other fighters, greater ones than Floyd, did similar things in terms of being inactive, not defending their titles, being stripped of belts for not fighting mandatories, picking the big money fights over more deserving but less commercially viable opponents.

When it's the image that today's boxers are all about money and it was so much different in the past, but in actuality the same type of things have been going on for decades.

If people are unhappy nowadays about inactive champions, I wonder how they would've felt about the HW champions before Joe Louis.

I applaud Floyd for not paying the sanctioning fee for a belt...its true, at this level, belts don't mean a thing. BUT, that is ALL titles...the only belt that means a thing is the lineal or Ring Title cuz there is only one per weight class and you can confidently say the winner of that is the MAN. Anyone who says WBC is the real belt isn't thinking straight because the WBA is the first championship belt...WBC came after...the alphabet titles are all the same and all equally corrupt. The WBC with Jose Suliaman, creating their "interim" or "champion in recess" or "champion emeritus" and then they create a belt for catchweights called a "diamond champion" but offer it for a legit welterweight title when they already have one in Andre Berto!!! The WBA have a champion and interim champ in every weight class, the WBO have ****ty rankings and Frank Warren has them in his back pocket....the IBF constantly strip their champions for no reason....each alphabet company is as bad as each other. The sooner fighters and fans accept this, the better it will get for boxing.

He just said why wouldn't he take a $25 mil drug test? Everyone is asking that except *******s. He has no case against Jr. And after his case is dismissed he'll be a laughing stock. And the only way to gain respect back will be to man up, take the test, and fight Mayweather or just retire and stick to politics.

They'll just strip Mayweather or Mosley anyway when they don't fight the winner of Souleymane Mbaye-Antonio Decarie, or "regular" WBA champ Vyacheslav Senchenko.

I think they just meant that the WBC belt has the richest history as far as Champions who have held that belt like Ali, benitez, frazier, etc. I do agree with you, the ring belt is the only one that really matters now in my eyes. These alphabet organizations have killed the whole meaning of being a champion when you have so many champs in one weight class.

They could allow a unification if Senchenko or whoever takes the step aside money which they would.

It hurts the sport long term him not being willing to pay the small sanctioning fees not only because it contributes to more belt holders but regardless of what anyone thinks....those belts give good obscure fighters from obscure places some attention that they otherwise would not get which can create opportunites for them.

The opportunities that Floyd had with the American boxing media out to make him look good in the 1st place being that he was a U.S Olympian a platform other fighters don't have whoever they may be, it not important.

The point is that those belt organizations not only need the fees to stay in existence and legitimize fighters so they get the chances to be star that Floyd was just kind of given like Taylor and Demetrius Andrade for example, but Floyd not paying the fees makes them seem less legitimate and significant and thus hurts the ability to legitimize other fighter which hurts the sport long term which is the medium that allows Floyd to live so comfortably.

Its a constant pattern of behavior on his part, him causing some serious long term problem in the sport to suit some small want of his.
